167,779. Col, A. Aug. 13, 1920, [Convention date]. Fences.-A band-saw, circular-saw, or like machine is provided with a fence c mounted by means of two parallel links b with fixed pivots a<1>, a<2>. The position of the fence is indicated by a helically-graduated drum i<1> attached to a spindle g mounted on one of the links b and carrying a pinion h which gears with a segment h<1> fixed to the fence. A cap j with an observation window covers the drum and is moved up and down by the action of the threaded end of the spindle g. As the angle a becomes smallerthat is, as the thickness of the strip cut decreases-the indications become more sensitive.
