Bulkhead doors.-In doors for bulk-head, partitions, &c. as described in Specifications 119,501 and 133,778, the door 4 with its packing 22 is pressed against a reinforcing rib 3 on the edge, of the opening by means of a cam-operated marginal sliding frame 8 carrying wedge-shaped projections as shown at 14, 9 and 34, Fig. 5, which engage snugs 13, 7 formed in brackets riveted to the partition 2 and a channelled member 33 secured to the reinforcing member 3 at the sill which is embedded flush with the deck surface between angle members 17, as shown in Fig. 6. Where a smoketight joint only is required, the rib 3 is not continued across the bottom, and the marginal frame has an angle member 36 which beds on a sill mernber 35 riveted to the partition flush with or above the deck surface, Fig. 10. The meeting surfaces of the angle members 35 and 36 are correspondingly bevelled. Where a sill flush with the deck surface is required for traffic, a wedge bar 20, Fig. 2, riveted to the marginal frame engages between channel members 17 embedded in the deck and makes a. water-tight joint along the bottom of door. The casing on which the cam acts is a frame 26 with a. cover plate secured to a rib 25 of the sliding frame, an intermediate bearing and reinforcing member 30 being attached to the rib, Fig. 5. The holes for the hinge bolts are made oval to allow the necessary movement of the door. The marginal sliding plate may be mounted on the partition 2, the brackets and projections being reversed. The invention may be applied to each of twc folding doors whose meeting edges are wedge-shaped to make a watertight joint.
