Abstract

164,170. Withers, J. S., (Common Sense Auto Accessories Co., Inc.). March 17, 1920. Radius-rods.-A radius-rod more especially for the front axle has its rear end resiliently secured to the side frame member, its front end being secured to the upper or lower part of the axle, while a supplemental member is secured to the lower or upper part of the axle and to an intermediate point of the first member. The rod 2 passes through an eye 11 in a bracket 10 on the frame member 1, and its front end takes into a socket in a member 6 which has a hook part 65 engaging the front axle 5; the eye 11 rides between spring stops encircling the 'member 2. A supplemental member 7 engages the lower surface of the axle, to which it is secured by a bolt 4, and is bolted to the member 6. The members 6, 7 have interengaging inclined surfaces 71. The member 6 may hook round the top of the bolt 4, which serves as the spring support. In a modification, the members 6. 7 engage the lower and upper surfaces. A further modification comprises a supplemental member adjustably secured by a bracket to the rod 2 midway of its length.
