Abstract

163,780. Dew, E. H. Feb. 23, 1920. Vehicle fittings and attachments.-Guiding tracks, secured to motor road vehicles and their tender vehicles or the like, for receiving demountable load-carrying trucks, are provided at one or both ends with short bridging tracks adapted to connect the tracks on the vehicle whether they are aligned or not, and the trucks are provided with three or more pairs of wheels carried on vertical pivots, the central pair or pairs having lateral movement also. The vehicle tracks are formed of angle-irons c, c<1> and the bridging-pieces f<3> are hinged on horizontal bolts e<3>, and on vertical pivots e, and are controlled by the handle f<3>, Fig. 11, of a rod f<7> . All track ends are splayed out as at f<9> and c<5>. The wheels of the truck are mounted in a U-shaped member pivoted at h<3>, Fig. 6, in a plate which for outer pairs is secured to the truck, but for inner pairs is permitted lateral movement on wheels h<17> mounted in bearings h<18> on the plate. The truck may be secured against vertical and horizontal movement by catches s and k' respectively. A winch t' may be mounted on the vehicle and rings g<14> on the truck to facilitate hauling.
