Abstract
163,694. Bulle, M. P. Favre-. May 23, 1921. Electric clocks ; clock framework; clock movements.- An electromagnetic clock has a forked rocking member 14, Figs. 1 and 2, which drives the clock-work by means of a pawl 6 and is engaged by an arm 16 on the pendulum 3, the contact of the arm 16 with one of the prongs of the member 14 causing the excitation of the magnet coil that maintains the motion of the pendulum. The pivot 15 of the member 14 is arranged below its centre of gravity, a stop 17 being arranged to limit its movement. The ratchet-wheel 7 engaged by the pawl 6 has fixed to it a worm 8 engaging a worm-wheel 9 on the shaft 10 of the minute-hand. All the gearing may be carried by an arm 19. In a modification, a pin 7, Figs. 7 and 8, on the pendulum 8 engages a forked rocking member 1, which is pivoted at a point approximately coincident with its centre of gravity, a brake &c. being applied to control its movement. The pin 7a is only slightly smaller than the slot e, one side of which is faced with silver or other conducting- material, thus causing the pendulum gradually to resume its full movement after its movement has been accidentally reduced. In either of the two modifications the gearing may be carried by a frame consisting of a part 15a to which is secured a piece 16a of square tubing an extension piece 17 being secured to the front face of the tubing. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 178,482.
