Abstract

162,771. Macrorie, A. K., and Long, S. H. Feb. 2, 1920. Audible reception of unmodulated continuous waves; thermionic valves, arrangement and con. nections of.-In a system of wireless reception, a valve for amplifying low-frequency signals is controlled by another valve so as to oscillate only on the reception of signals. In an example, the oscillations arrive at the points C, D. The valve E is first adjusted to give an audible note in the telephone H by means of the coils A, B, and then prevented from oscillating by the potentiometer G. The resistance of the valve F, which is in the grid circuit of the valve E, is lowered by signals, and the valve E thereupon oscillates but does not continue to do so after the signal.
