Strainers for kitchen use.-Relates to a triturating or pulping and straining device having a curved perforated bottom over which a pulping roller is worked, and a receiving-trough below. The roller is in two sections or is centrally slotted to receive the flat end of the operating-handle e<2>. The perforated plate c is held between metal strips c<2>, c<4> the strip c<2> being screwed to the side members b' and end members c<1> of the pulping-vessel and the strip c<4> being secured by short screws to the strip c<2> and being of sufficient width to support the plate c against the pressure at the ends of the roller d, which is mounted on an axle d<1> and is recessed at its end to receive nuts d<4>. The upper end of the handle may be supported in a suitable oscillating bracket, which may be secured to the framework of the apparatus or an adjacent wall. The trough g may be withdrawn by sliding on supporting-members a<1>, and is preferably of rectangular shape with inwardly slanting walls which prevent liquids from splashing over. An integral spout g<1> and handles g<2>, g<3> are provided, the former handle being fixed and the latter hinged, both handles being insulated from the trough by asbestos liners g<4>.
