Abstract

162,088. Cheshire, H. (trading as Cranmer & Cheshire), and Summerhayes, V. Jan. 26, 1920. Electric hand-irons.-The heating element consists of a high-resistance winding on a pair of mica strips contained between mica plates 7, 8, which carry the terminals 6, the element being held between a cover 15 and a bottom plate 1 by nuts and bolts 17, 16, so that the terminals protrude through an aperture 20 in the cover. A bent plate with legs 26, 27 supports the iron when not in use, and has a metal guard 21 which surrounds the terminals. A heat insulating washer 12 may be placed above the heating-element and the method of attachment of terminals slightly varied.
