Abstract
Insecticides, fungicides, and disinfectants are prepared by boiling a mixture of lime, sulphur, and water in an open vessel or an autoclave until an orange or brown colour is obtained. The resulting paste may be run directly into packages in which it sets on cooling, or may be cast into a slab. The proportions of the ingredients used and the method of manufacture may be such that the product contains only sulphur compounds of calcium, or that free lime, or free sulphur, or both may be present in addition. The lime may be added in the form of milk of lime. The solid product is dissolved in hot water for use or, in place of a solid product, a concentrated solution may be prepared direct.
