Abstract

160,132. White, A. E., (McKiernan-Terry Drill Co.). Dec. 12, 1919. Jacks.-Comprises a ratchet-and-worm-actuated screw-jack in which the lifting-screw 20 slides within the pillar 13 and is formed with an extension 30 which projects into recesses formed in a worm-wheel 23 and a plug 26, these recesses being filled with welding metal 29 so that the three parts are welded together. The lifting- head 21 rests on the actuating worm-wheel 23 through a thrust bearing 22. The screw is lubricated through a well in the plug 26 and an oilway 31.
