Abstract

159,944. Jahn, L. B. Nov. 27, 1919. Parachutes.-Relates to parachutes of the kind having a resilient spreading-device attached thereto for the purpose of assisting in opening the parachute on its release, and consists in using a onepiece spring bent to form a series of flat portions interconnected by springs, also in providing a flexible band or holder for encircling the parachute in its folded condition, the band being releasable by a spring-controlled detent mechanism. Springs 6 comprising flat pieces 7, 8, 9 connected by coil springs 10, Fig. 6, are attached to the rim of a parachute and, in the folded position, Fig. 2a, are held; by a band 10<a>, Fig. 1. The band has locking-elements 11, which are held in the lock 17 by a spring-pressed detent releasable by the line 25a.
