Abstract

159,718. Sweet, H. Jan. 7, 1920. Capsules.-An ampoule for containing tincture of iodine, chlorinated eucalyptol, phenol, corrosive sublimate, or other antiseptic, and of the type enclosing a device for applying the liquid, comprises a sealed glass tube 10 containing a hollow wick 11. The tube is formed with a constriction 15 in which is located a circular file cut 16. The wick 11 is preferably of knitted worsted doubled on itself so that a closed end 20 is formed wherein a glass or other cylinder 17 is placed to act as a stiffener to retain the wick in place when the upper part of the tube is broken awav and removed and as a handle wherebv the wick may be manipulated when removed from the tube. The stiffener 17 may finally be removed so that the wick may be employed as a dressing for a wound. The ampoule may be enclosed in a protecting-cylinder of wood or metal.
