Abstract

Capsules, medical.-An ampoule for use with a surgical syringe comprises a hollow glass body 12 constricted at each end 13, 14, the constricted portions being notched, etched, or the like as at 16, 18 to permit breaking off of the sealed ends 15, 17 when required for use. The portion 13 is provided with a resilient collar 24 forming a fluidtight contact with the body of the syringe. The body 12 is filled with medicament, preferably sufficient for one injection only and contains a rubber plunger 19 compressed into the ampoule and having a concave lower side 19<a>. The upper side of the plunger is provided with a cap 20 having a turned down flange engaging the material of the plunger and formed with a stud 21 engaged by a terminal recess in the syringe plunger-rod. Alternatively a flat washer, having pressed out tongues engaging the plunger and having a central aperture engaged by a shouldered projection on the end of the plunger rod, may be provided.
