Portable endless belt and chain conveyers and elevators; directing and adjustably supporting; discharging; driving-gear.-The boom B of a portable bucket elevator for unloading slack coal, sand, gravel, china clay, &c. from barges, wagons, &c. is slidably mounted in guides and is adjusted by a rope i and winding-mechanism i<3>. The boom is composed of bars b, Fig. 6, of T-section connected by cross-plates. The shaft on which the chain-wheel d<2> and sprocket-wheel d<1> are mounted is supported in bearings in plates attached to the bars b, and the idler rollers b<8> for the bucket chain e are supported by angle irons carrying the cross-plates. The position of the upper roller b<8> can be adjusted. The guides between which the T-bars b slide comprise angle-irons a and plates a<2> spaced apart by narrower plates a<1>. A shoot h<3> for directing the material to a conveyer A<3> and an overflow shoot h are supported by the boom. Instead of driving the shaft d by chain gearing, bevel-gearing, Fig. 3, may be used. The part d' of the shaft of the gear d<6> is of non-circular cross-section and is slidably mounted in a driven sleeve d<8>.
