Abstract

159,501. Thomas, J. A. H. Feb. 26, 1920, [Convention date]. Ball and roller bearings.-A roller bearing to take journal and thrust loads comprises two symmetrically-disposed conical outer race-rings 6, 6<1>, and two conical inner rings 3, 3<1> having grooves 5, the cones of each set terminating at a common apex on the axis of the shaft. Conical rollers G run on the outer races and reduced ends 4<1> of the rollers run on the inner races, the larger parts of the rollers having play in the grooves 5. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes a similar bearing in which the rollers and race-rings are cylindrical, the rollers being spaced by small intermediate rollers carried by a cage; and describes also a ball bearing with two rows of balls, outer races 27, Fig. 4 (Cancelled), formed in a ring 26 and inner races formed by rings 23, 23<1> which are adjustable. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
