Abstract
158,542. Platschick, B. Jan. 30, 1920. [Convention date]. Guides and rests.-A hand-rest for an electric Polishing-lathe, for example, a lathe for dental work, comprises a disc-shaped head 1 carrying a threaded rod 2 screwing into a socket 3. The socket is carried by an arm 4 pivoted at 5 to a slide-block 6 slidable in a guide in the frame 7; the head is thus movable into any desired position and may be set at any desired height. In order to prevent the transmission of jarring to the hand, the socket 3 has at its lower end a rubber or other elastic washer 8, which rests on the table carrying the lathe. When not in use, the rest may be moved round the pivot to lie against the framework, and two rests may be provided, one on each side of the lathe. The Specification, as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the use of a. plate which is secured to the framework and to which the arm 4 is pivoted; or the securing of the rest to the lathe by mortise, bayonet, or friction joints, or by single or double slides, or by tenon slides. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
