Abstract

157,635. Cave, T. R. Cave-Browne-. Dec. 18, 1919. Joints with yielding outer 'part compressed. - A flexible hose for coupling metal piping on airships &c. is proof against petrol, benzol, and the like, and consists of an inner seamless tube 3, preferably diagonally woven, of fabric, asbestos, or other flexible material other than rubber, and one or more layers 4 of petrolresisting rubber, corrugated soft copper, or the like, which may be separated by layers 5 of fabric &c. The ends 6 of the inner tubes 3 are doubled back as shown and the whole is vulcanized or moulded together and preferably coated, over the exposed surface of the inner tube, with benzol-resisting or like dope. The ends 6 are clamped by means of clips on to the pipes to be coupled. A loose jointless exterior sheeve of diagonally woven asbestos may be added for protection against fire.
