Compound slabs; paper slabs.-Structural sheets of material suitable for the construction of furniture and building parts, such as bedsteads, wardrobes, doors, &c. comprise a number of corrugated and flat strips 3, 4 of paper or millboard glued between sheets 1, 1 of paper or millboard and surrounded by a frame 11 of wood and with a block such as 10 inserted for the attachment of a lock or other fitting. In constructing the sheet of material, the frame bars 11, 10 and strips 3, 4 are laid on sheet 1 covered with adhesive, the width of the strips being greater than the thickness of the bars 11, a top sheet 1 is applied and the whole compressed as shown in Fig. 13.
