Abstract

156,921. Bridgland, C. W. S. Oct. 17, 1919. Fixed-chamber apparatus; with air control of level; valve systems for.-When a flush passes down the pipe 10 some of the water strikes a pivoted vane 22. This is deflected, and, by means of a cam 24 and a rod 25 opens a valve 27. Disinfectant in the chamber 37 is then sucked into the pipe 10. A rod 30 is moved with the valve 27 and brings a collar 50 into contact with a valve 48, which it opens, and also closes a valve 35 by which communication with a disinfectant reservoir along a pipe 14 is cut off. The opening of the valve 48 allows air to enter the chamber by a passage 45. At the end of the flush the valve 35 is opened by a spring 38 and the chamber 37 is re-filled with disinfectant as far as the pressure of the confined air will allow.
