Davits; boat raising and lowering gear. - In boat-hoisting gear of the kind having a boat spar 6 suspended from a single davit 1, the davit carries the fall drums 5, means being provided for winding the drums while the davit is locked, or for locking the drums while the davit is being turned. A ring 7 fixed on the davit 1 can be clutched by a lever 20, either to a pedestal 2, or to a handwheel 8 carrying a pinion 9, turning loosely on the ring 7, operation of the handwheel 8 either winding the drums 5 through gearing 9, 14 or slueing the davit.
