Abstract

The grinding machine is intended for solids, such as roasted and rough-crushed cacao beans, which form a pasty or viscous substance during comminution owing to the release of an included lipoid component. The machine contains fly cutters (5) which are located inside a grinding chamber bounded by a screening cylinder (17), rotate at a speed of the order of 3000 rpm and are fixedly mounted on a hub (8, 9) which is installed on the drive motor shaft (2). The screening cylinder comprises a perforated inside screen (17') which corresponds to the grain size of the ground material and an outer screen (17'') which is provided with perforations approximately 10 mm in diameter, the two screens being rigidly connected to one another in the region of end flanges. The upper part (18, 23) of the machine casing is telescopically mounted in the lower part (24 etc.) and is held on the latter by means of clamp bolts (25). The upper part can therefore be released from the lower part in a few actions and the inside of the machine is easily accessible. To cool the material to be ground, the floor has two layers and is designed so as to contain a liquid circulation chamber (13), and the lid in the upper part of the machine includes gas inlet nozzles (29) which are intended to encourage agitation of the material to be ground as well as providing additional cooling of the latter. <IMAGE>
