Abstract

155,611. Sauer, J. N. A. June 20, 1919. Purifying saccharine liquids by the action of decolorizing carbon or similar substance. An amount of carbon in excess of what is required for complete purification is used. The same batch of material is then used without regenera- Lion to purify further quantities of the liquid. It is stated in the Specification that the following substances may be used in a similar manner; Kieselguhr, fuller's earth, phosphates, carbonates, sulphates, and sulphites of lime &c. Specifications 7119/02 and 8627/12, [both in Class 90, Non-metallic elements], are referred to in connexion with the manufacture of decolorizing carbon.
