Abstract

155,389. Harvey, L. C. Sept. 24, 1919. Fuel, feeding. -In apparatus for feeding powdered fuel to furnaces, of the type comprising an adjustable cone d mounted on a spindle f by which it is rotated in an aperture c in the bottom of the supply bin a, the spindle f being arranged at an angle to the supply duct b so as not to impede the passage, the surface of the cone is provided with guiding vanes or teeth e, and the spindle f extends into the bin and carries blades i to agitate the fuel and prevent bridging. The means for adjusting the cone axially to vary the rate of feed comprise a hand-operated screwed spindle q engaging the hollow end f<1> of the shaft f which passes through the rotating sleeve j and is connected thereto by a feather and keyway so as to be free to move longitudinally.
