Abstract

SF6, in particular, is provided as the compressed-gas filling for the sleeve insulator. In order to keep the consequences of any bursting which may occur as slight as possible, an electrically insulating, gas-permeable sleeve (14) is provided inside the sleeve insulator (4). In the event of the sleeve insulator (4) bursting, this gas-permeable sleeve (14) ensures that there is a pressure drop between it and the sleeve insulator (4) with respect to the remaining pressure in the installation. In consequence, it is possible to limit effectively fractured parts being flung away. Further braking of the fractured parts can be achieved by point-by-point attachment of the gas-permeable sleeve (14) to the sleeve insulator (4). A weak point (42) can additionally be provided. A pressure-relief valve (11, 11', 11'') can prevent bursting in the event of a slow pressure rise. <IMAGE>
