Abstract

In the purification of gas mixtures which contain nitrogen or hydrogen or argon or a nitrogen/hydrogen mixture or a nitrogen/oxygen mixture, and have admixtures of carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and water, by adsorption of these admixtures on type A or type X zeolites with subsequent regeneration of the zeolite, the adsorption of admixtures on zeolite is carried out in a single stage, more precisely at temperatures between minus 40 and plus 4 DEG C. In such a process, the degree of purification of the gas mixtures from the admixtures can be increased and the treatment of the gas mixture can be simplified.
