Abstract

A fibre material is impregnated with an emulsion which contains 1) a glycidyl polyether of 2,2-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)propane which has an average of more than one epoxy group per molecule and is liquid at room temperature; 2) a polyhydric phenol; 3) water; 4) a surfactant; 5) an amino compound as curing agent for polyepoxides. Then the resin-impregnated fibre material is heated at 100 to 200 DEG C in order to effect a precondensation of the resin components, and the structure is heated under pressure at 130 to 200 DEG C. The aqueous emulsions used for impregnation are cheaper and safer to handle than the organic solutions usually used.
