Abstract

154,385. Buckingham, J. F. Sept. 19, 1919. Valve-gear.-In order to allow removal of the cam shaft without dismantling the crank case, the shaft F is made shorter than the distance between the end walls of the crank case, its bearings being formed in inwardly projecting caps N, and a T- shaped slot is made in the side of the crank case, so that when the caps N have been removed, the shaft, together with its timing-gear M, may be removed radially through the slot. The invention is shown applied to the crank case described in Specification 154,384.
