Trusses.-A truss, of the kind in which a helical spring controls the pressure on the pad, comprises a woven or other waist band, provided at its ends with buckles 5 formed with hooks 6 to engage the outer coil of a helical spring 10 which is of uniform diameter throughout its length. A thigh strap 2 is formed with a loop 7 sliding on the waist band, and is fitted with a buckle 8 having a hook 9 to engage the spring. The hooks 6, 9 slide freely on the spring 10 so that the truss may be self-adjusting. The front of the india-rubber pad 11 is formed with an annular bearing surface 14 and a central convex protrusion 15, and the rear of the pad is formed with a bevelled flexible lip 13 to engage the inner end of the spring 10. Fig. 6 shows a modification for double hernia.
