Abstract

1537179 Plastics bottles CARNAUD TOTAL INTERPLASTIC 7 July 1977 [7 July 1976] 28511/77 Heading B8D A support ring 5 is secured to the curved bottom wall 2 of a carbonated beverage plastics bottle 1 by co-operating botte and ring reliefs 4 and 6, the bottle reliefs being peripherally separated by unrelieved wall portions 9, which resist the tendency of axial stresses arising from internal bottle pressure to flatten the bottle reliefs. The reliefs may be formed by a ring of inwardly or outwardly directed bosses making a snap-fastening engagement with co-operating ring bosses or cavities. Alternatively the bosses, or groups of bosses may be axially offset from each other to define an interrupted screw thread engageable with a threaded support ring, Fig. 4 (not shown).
