Abstract

1536940 Air duct BBC BROWN BOVERI & CO Ltd 14 April 1976 [18 April 1975] 15345/76 Heading F2P [Also in Division F4] An induction air supply device in a railway coach, comprises a primary air supply duct 1 extending in the longitudinal direction of the coach having an air discharge slot 2 extending throughout the whole length of the duct, the slot being defined by an extension 12 of a side wall 11 of the duct and by a pivotable flap 21 which is integral with the top wall 13 of the duct, and one or more bolts (4, 41, Fig. 2) for adjusting the width of the slot 2. The duct 1 is formed by bending from a single laminate sheet defined by thermal insulation material sandwiched between two metal sheets. The resilience of the flap hinge produces widening of the slot 2 when the bolt or bolts are loosened. A slotted shim (42) may be provided for the or each bolt to define a minimum slot width. The duct 1 extends the full length of the railway coach and is enclosed within a casing 3 having coach air inlets 33 and an air outlet 35 with a grid 36. A wall of casing 3 including inlets 33 may be removable for access to the bolt(s).
