Abstract

1535941 Valves ETABS BANIDES ET DEBEAURAIN 22 April 1976 [7 May 1975] 16310/76 Heading F2V Hard water from inlet 2 can pass via passage 3 to a water softener (not shown) and via passageway 22 and apertures 26 in a manually operated valve member 8 to mix with soft water returning from the softener via passage 4 controlled by check valve 12 to provide variable proportions of hard and soft water at the outlet 5. Hollow head 15 allows valve carrier 20 to move axially only to convert rotary motion of control shaft 16, screw connected to carrier 20, to axially move valve member 8 between seats 6 and 7. With valve member 8 on seat 7, 0-ring 24 on a stem 23 seals passageway 22 allowing hard water only to outlet 5. Stem 23 has a screwhead 27 by means of which it can be adjusted relative to shaft 16 to control flow to the apertures 26 via ridge 25, (25<1>). When the valve member 8 is on seat 6 and with the stem adjusted so that the ridge 25 closes off passageway 22 only soft waste is delivered to the outlet 5.
