Abstract

1534515 Rolling mills BETRIEBSFORSCHUNGSINSTITUT VDEh INSTITUT FUR ANGEWANDTE FORSCHUNG GmbH 14 Nov 1975 [20 Nov 1974] 47004/75 Heading B3M A parallel roll gap is set between a pair of work rolls 14, 15 by first urging one roll 15 towards the other, then reducing the applied force to a fraction of its initial value, and finally moving the roll 15 away from the other to produce a desired gap. The roll 15 is movable by pairs of adjustable wedges 9, 10 which simultaneously act on the two roll ends. Piston and cylinder units 87, are located between the wedges and the backing roll chocks 2 for individual adjustment of the pressures acting on the roll ends.
