Abstract

1532991 Fairground apparatus A R WOOLLS 14 Jan 1976 [16 Jan 1975] 1963/75 Heading A6M Fairground apparatus comprises a central rotatable mounting 4 carrying a plurality of outwardly extending support arms 6, a carrier 8 dependent from an outer region of each support arm and provided with passengercarrying means 14, said carrier being arranged to be rotated on the support and also to be pivotable inwardly and outwardly about an axis transverse to its axis of rotation. As shown the carriers 8 are connected to the support arms 6 through mounting brackets 16 pivotable about pins 18 and the carriers 8 are rotatable with respect to the brackets 16. A hydraulic ram 20 is connected between each arm 6 and the respective bracket 16 to control or effect the swinging of bracket 16. The mounting 4 is driven by motor means (not shown) mounted on the base structure 2 and a series of hydraulic pumps 32 are driven by the mounting 4. These pumps are connected to respective hydraulic motors 34 which rotate the carriers 8 preferably in a direction counter to that of the arms 6. Bogey units 40 can be provided for attachment to the apparatus for transportation and some, at least, of the arms 6 are arranged so that they can be pivoted towards each other to a central aligned position during transport.
