Abstract
1326322 Walking-beam conveyers NIPPON KOKAN KK 19 April 1971 [21 Sept 1970 (2)] 27040/71 Heading B8A A walking-beam conveyer particularly suitable for conveying elongated articles during plating, painting, washing, drying or shotpeening comprises a central comb-shaped element 101 and two outer comb-shaped elements 106, the elements all being given a circular motion by eccentrics 117, 119 driven from a motor 127. The central element 101 comprises two flanges having projections 105 and is supported by arms 118, from the eccentrics 117. The outer elements 106 have projections 108 similar to projections 105, are connected by bolts 114 and are supported by the eccentrics 119 which are 180 degrees out of phase with the eccentrics 117. A stationary support 121 for articles 102 is provided between the flanges of the element 101 and the articles are laterally located by guides 122. In operation, the articles remain on the support 121 but, due to the circular and relative movement of the elements 101, 106 are urged from left to right in Fig. 1. Clearance between the articles and the projections 105, 108 permits the articles to rotate. Means 128 may periodically change the speed of the drive to the eccentrics 116, 117. In a modification, Figs. 8, 10, a central element 201 is stationary and the movable outer elements 206 have integral article-retainers 210. The spaces between projections 205, 208 on the elements 201, 206 are smaller than the diameter of the articles 202 being conveyed. Due to the circular motion of the elements 206 the articles are transferred step-by-step along the tops of the stationary projections 205. At each step the articles are given a small rotational movement, Fig. 14 (not shown).
