Abstract
1531523 Inflatable mattresses R NAPIERSKI 17 March 1976 10695/76 Heading A4M [Also in Divisions A6 B7 B8 E1 and F1] Inflatable tents, tent props, tent frames, spring boards, inflatable mattresses, boats, balloons, air bag safety restraining devices, fluid-pressure operated cylinder and piston jacks and rams or tensioned limp wall coverings have a first, fluid extendible, hollow body connected to a second fluid extendible, hollow body each provided with a valve, wherein the first body is at least partially extended by inflation or extension of the second body by said fluid, which extension or inflation gives rise to a partial vacuum in the first body tending to cause inflating fluid to be automatically drawn into the first body. In the case of tents &c. mattresses and boats the inflating fluid may be air and may be brought up to a required excess pressure in the first body after erection. The first body may have a pressure relief valve and a non-return valve in its inlet. The first and second bodies may be pressured from a single source using a diverter valve. The second body may be cellular Figs. 1, 8 (not shown) in the form of a framework with radial extensions, Figs. 2-4 and 9 (not shown) or in the form of a helix, Fig. 5 (not shown). In a spring mat or board the first body may be provided with a restricted aperture, high-pressure relief i.e. a choke valve which vents air when subjected to a rapid pressure load which air is automatically replenished through a non-return valved intake when the load is removed.
