Abstract

1472950 Emergency escape shoots BF GOODRICH CO 23 July 1974 32546/74 Heading B7J An inflatable escape shoot for an aircraft which may also be used as a life raft comprises an inflatable lower section made up of longitudinal tubes 20 interconnected by transverse tubes 26, 27, 29 and 31, an inflatable upper section comprising longitudinal tubes 14 interconnected by transverse tubes 17, 45 and 15, the upper and lower sections being secured to each other with a sheet 12 therebetween providing the base of the shoot, detachable means 52 for attaching the shoot to an aircraft 53, and pressurized gas means 39 on the underside of the shoot or a separate pump mountable on the aircraft for inflating the shoot through aspirators 41 and chamber 35. The chamber 35 communicates with the upper and lower sections through separate one-way valves and is collapsed by the aspirators after the shoot has been fully inflated so as to protect said one-way valves. Cables 43 attached to the underside of the shoot, pass over struts 21 so as to impart rigidity to the structure. The transverse tube 45 communicates with the remainder of the upper section through a valve 48 and conduit 47. Valve 48 may be opened to inflate the tube 45 if the shoot is subsequently used as a life raft.
