Abstract
1531107 Chemical reaction heat evolution DOW CHEMICAL CO 15 Sept 1977 [16 Sept 1976] 38627/77 Heading G1D The rate of heat evolution in a chemical reaction is determined under adiabatic conditions in apparatus comprising a sample 19-bomb 17 suspended in a reaction chamber 10, radiant heaters 28 which in use heat incrementally the sample 19 to the temperature at which decomposition is selfsustaining, heaters 21 which keep the chamber 10 at the same temperature as the bomb 17 and sample 19, thermocouples 29, 30 which monitor the temperature of the chamber 10 and bomb 17, and a temperature-time recorder providing a continuous record during the heating and decomposition of the sample.
