153,059. Ward, W. A. July 22, 1919. Folding boxes; boxes made from special blanks; fittings, internal.-A folding cardboard box for inverted incandescent gas mantles &c. is formed of an L-shaped blank, of which the arms A, B, Fig. 1, are creased as shown to form the sides of the box. A reinforcing-member 8 is secured at the junction of the two arms, and, when a support for a mantle is required, extensions 9, 10 are provided on this piece, which form a support as shown in Fig. 2. In modifications, the blank may be formed as shown in Fig. 5, supplementary reinforcing-members 8, 13 being employed; or the two arms A, B, Fig. 3, may be made from separate blanks secured together, and the mantle support may be formed from a side extension m. The mantle support may in some cases be formed separately and be put in place when the box is assembled. In a modification described in one Provisional Specification, a part arranged to reinforce one side of the box and to serve as a mantle support is formed as an integral extension of an L-shaped blank, instead of being secured thereto, as shown in Figs. 1 and 3.
