Stropping-apparatus.-Safety-razor blades are sharpened in a device, operated in the manner of a rattle, which is swung round a spindle held in the hand while an epicyclic train of gears imparts rotation to a grinding-roller. The blade 5, gripped by spring-pressed checks 3 rotatable about and frictionally retarded by the spindle 2, is acted on by an oblique-sectioned grinding-cylinder 7 mounted on a bracket 8 fixed on the spindle 16 and rotated through gear-wheels 19-22. A mass 24 of metal facilitates the movement. To sharpen the other side of the blade, the swinging is reversed.
