1529986 Radiator caps GENERAL MOTORS Ltd 4 Aug 1977 [12 Aug 1976] 33586/76 Heading B8T A radiator cap has 3 cup-shaped members 3, 6, 14 arranged in nested fashion, biased into sealing position by springs 16 and 20 and having 3 sealing members 9, 11, 17. An excess air pressure is released by forcing seal 11 off cup member 6 and venting through passages 23, 24, while air enters to relieve sub-atmospheric pressure by forcing seal 17 away from seal 11.
