Abstract

152,992. Stevens, W. V. Oct. 16, 1919, [Convention date]. Channels in vehicle axle bearings.-A vehicle axle is supplied with lubricant from a greasecup j through a pipe g which passes beneath the collar c of the axle to a groove c on the axle. The axle b is secured to a wooden bolster a and has a tapered end d which fits in a metal sleeve m fitted in the wocden nave l of the wheel k, a cotter n securing the wheel in position. The pipe g is preferably secured at the rear of the wooden axle a, but it may be placed in front, or in the centre. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a), a hole is drilled through the nave and sleeve clear of the wheel, the grease cup being mounted on a pipe screwed into the hole. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
