Abstract

1529803 Valves PORTER CHADBURN Ltd 31 Oct 1975 [5 Dec 1974] 52587/74 Heading F2V A dispense tap has operating means 20 effective only to open a seating 17 for a valve member 16 and a control means 34 sensitive to pressure difference across a restrictor 12 upstream of the valve member, by which the valve is held open while flow exceeds a predetermined value and is allowed to close when the flow falls below that value. Control may be by a diaphragm 34 operating under pressure from an inlet passage 14 against a spring 21 and coupled to the valve member by a tapering stem 18 fitting with a clearance in a bore 13 to give an annular flow passage increasing in cross section in downstream direction. An extension 32 of the spindle may be arranged for actuation by a handle 20 to initially open the valve. Thereafter the valve will remain open under differential pressure across the restrictor until flow is reduced to a value where the differential pressure force is overcome by the spring to close the valve.
