Abstract

1528950 Electrophotographic liquid developers EASTMAN KODAK CO 18 Dec 1975 [23 Dec 1974] 51899/75 Heading C3R [Also in Division G2] A liquid developer for electrophotography comprises an insulating liquid or resistivity greater than 10<SP>10</SP> ohm cm, and a dielectric constant of less than 3 in which is dispersed toner particles in an amount greater than 0À05 per cent by weight of the developer of a poly. ester containing (100-X) mole per cent units of formula and X mole per cent units of formula where X is 0-100 and where R, R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are alkylene, cycloalkylene or arylene, but R<SP>1</SP> does not contain any groups and R<SP>3</SP> is the same as R<SP>1</SP> or may be an arylene group containing a group. The developer preferably contains a pigment such as carbon black or a phthalocyanine, a charge control agent such as styrene/ butyl methacrylate/sulphoethyl methacrylate terpolymer and optionally a wetting agent such as sodium tridecyl sulphsuccinate. Specified polyester are poly-/decamethylene-, ethylene-, p-xylylene-, sebacate, poly nonamethylene terephthalate, polydecamethylene adipate or polyethylenesuberate or a mixture of polytetramethylene succinate and sebacate or poly decamethylene sebacate and poly-3,3<SP>1</SP>-(sodioimino)-disulphonyl]-dibenzoate.
