Abstract

1528546 Manufacture of coke COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd 21 June 1977 [27 July 1976] 31215/76 Heading C5E A method of manufacturing coke comprises coking a blended coal feedstock, the component coals of which soften at coking temperatures, together with admixed coal extract. The coals may be incompatible, e.g. a blend of high and low rank coals, and the extract may be an anthracene oil solution of a ground coal. Other aromatic materials may be added to the blend, e.g. coal tar pitches or petroleum pitches.
