Abstract

1528393 Discharging hoppers BRITISH STEEL CORP 5 Feb 1976 [5 Feb 1975] 4900/75 Heading B8S [Also in Division B5] Powder is fed to the roll gap 3 between the compaction rolls 1, 2 of a powder compaction mill from a trough 4 which comprises end plates 5 (only one shown) connected by struts 6, two inclined side plates 7 suspended by hooks 8 from the struts 6, and two thin metal plates 9 which extend respectively below the lower edges of the plates 7 and define with the end plates 5 a slot 10 for the passage of powder from the trough 4, the plates 9 being clamped at their upper ends in clamps 11, 12 which are slidably mounted on a respective bracket 13 secured to an end plate 5, the clamps 11, 12 being displaceable along the associated bracket 13 by a ram 16 in order to move the plates 9 towards or away from the roll gap 3 in order to vary the width of the slot 10.
