Abstract

1528206 Electric cigar lighter SCHOELLER & CO ELEKTROTECHNISCHE FABRIK GmbH & CO 30 Oct 1975 [6 Aug 1975] 44868/75 Heading F4F An electric cigar lighter comprises a sleeve 2 insertable in a socket sleeve 1 locatable in a vehicle, a glow coil 3 being connected to a knob 4 by a shaft 15 which is displaceable axially in a disc 14 which is in turn displaceable axially in the sleeve 2, the coil when displaced into an operative position B (in which it is electrically heated) being held, against the force of a coil spring 17, by bimetallic springs 5 which when heated release the coil 3 so that it is urged by the spring 17 into a removal position A, in which the knob 4 projects from the sleeve 2, and is retained in this position by springs (43), Figs. 4, 5 (not shown). These springs prevent the coil from accidentally protruding from the sleeve 2 when this has been withdrawn from the socket sleeve 1 for use of the lighter. The springs (43) are formed as part of the sleeve 2 and engage in recesses (44), Figs. 2-4 (not shown) of the disc 14. After use the knob 4 may be depressed so that the lighter is in an intermediate inoperative position in which the coil 3 is level with the end of the sleeve 2.
