Abstract

1527541 Electrolytic colouring of anodized Al RIKEN KEIKINZOKU KOGYO KK 1 April 1976 [27 Aug 1975] ] 13176/76 Heading C7B Anodized Al and its alloys are electrolytically coloured in a bath containing 15-150 g/l of a water-soluble Ni salt and 10-50 g/l of boric acid using positive and negative current pulses, the applied negative voltage having a time integral greater than that of the applied positive voltage. Either a plurality of + pulses may be followed by a plurality of - pulses in alternation, or simple alternation may be used. Baths containing Ni acetate, sulphate or chloride, pulse voltages of 5À5-15V and pulse durations of 1-3 seconds with a total treatment time up to 10 minutes are disclosed.
