Abstract

1527209 Elevators HOOGOVENS IJMUIDEN BV 23 May 1977 [25 May 1976] 21678/77 Heading B8L [Also in Division F4] A cage 13 is lowered into a steel ladle I to enable renewal or repair of a down spout 3 while the ladle is still hot. The ladle is positioned on a transport carriage 4 with the radial direction of the down spout from the axis of the ladle forming an angle e.g. of 45‹, with the direction of travel of the carriage and the cage 13 is supported by a tower 12 movable on rails 20 extending in the said radial direction. The cage (Figs. 3 and 4, not shown) comprises an insulated cylindrical shell (22) with hatches (24), (30) for giving access to the down spout and a stopper rod therefor and is provided with forced air ventilation and cooling. A ram 34 may be provided beneath the ladle for forcing out the down spout into the cage.
