Abstract

1526730 Controlling pumps BRITISH SYPHON INDUSTRIES Ltd 9 Oct 1975 [25 Nov 1974] 50957/74 Heading F1A An electric motor-driven pump 12 supplying beer to a tap 16 is controlled so that it starts when the tap is opened and stops a predetermined time after the tap is closed. In the arrangement shown, a pressure switch 20 in the pump delivery line 18 closes when tap 16 is opened and energizes a relay 22 to close motor switch 24. When tap 16 is closed, switch 20 opens but relay 22 keeps motor switch 24 closed until a capacitor 26 has discharged. In Fig. 2 (not shown), pressure switch 20 is replaced by a switch mechanically operated by the tap. In Fig. 3 (not shown), the relay and capacitor are replaced by a single-acting dashpot (42) incorporated in a pressure switch. In Fig. 5 (not shown), a single-acting dashpot controls a motor switch mechanically actuated by the tap. The time delay alternatively may be provided by an electric motordriven timing device.
