Abstract

1526655 Automatic voltage control SIEMENS AG 30 May 1977 [31 May 1976] 22720/77 Heading G3R [Also in Division H2] A step-up DC-DC converter includes a series capacitor C2 which is intermittently charged by an intermediate capacitor C1. In one half-cycle of a 20KHz pulse generator T, a transistor T2 is turned on so that the capacitor C1 is charged through a further transistor T3, a resistor R1, and a diode D1. In the following half-cycle, charge is transferred from capacitor C1 to capacitor C2 by turning on transistors T1, T4, T5. The output voltage is regulated to a maximum value by comparison with a Zener voltage ZD to produce an amplified control signal which adjusts the biasing voltage of the transistor T4. A similar circuit, Fig. 2 (not shown), may be used to provide a negative output voltage smaller in amplitude than the positive input voltage.
